Sloan Valve Company introduces the world’s first solar-powered, sensor-operated Flushometers

This is probably one of the coolest products that came out of the plumbing industry for awhile, Sloan keeps coming out with great products. This is from their press release.

Sloan SOLIS® Models are the Industry’s First Solar-Powered, Sensor-Operated Flushometers

Sloan Valve Company introduces the world’s first solar-powered, sensor-operated Flushometers. Sloan SOLIS® Flushometers for water closets and urinals provide ground-breaking water efficiency and utilize state-of-the-art photovoltaic technology.

The new Flushometers are part of the Sloan SOLIS® Collection, which also includes the 0.5 gpm/1.9 Lpm Sloan SOLIS® solar-powered faucet, making Sloan the first plumbing company to offer a complete line of solar-powered, water-efficient products.

Sloan SOLIS® Flushometers use light to charge a highly efficient capacitor, providing power even in rooms with occupancy-controlled lighting. The solar panel powers the unit without the need for moving parts in the waterway. No moving parts in the waterway mean superior hydraulic performance and reduced maintenance.

These revolutionary plumbing products offer engineers and designers a way to visibly express a facility’s commitment to sustainability.

Toilets account for most of the water used in commercial restrooms. The new SOLIS® High-Efficiency Flushometers are available in single-flush and dual-flush models. The dual-flush model has two flush cycles: Users can choose the full 1.6 gpf/6.0 Lpf flush for solid waste or the reduced flush of 1.1 gpf/4.2 Lpf for liquid waste.

If the user does not press a button, the Flushometer’s Dual-Flush Smart Sense Technology™ takes over and automatically initiates a flush cycle, based on how long the user remains in the sensor range. Users who stay within the sensor range less than a minute activate the reduced flush; users who stay longer activate the full flush.

Exhaustive research and extensive field trials have proven the Dual-Flush Sensing Algorithm to be a reliable and efficient method of controlling flush volume. In addition, advanced state-of-the-art sensor technology eliminates false flushing to further ensure water efficiency.
